Brisbane dentists who offer dental sedation

Welcome to Today’s Dentistry: we’re a general dental practice in Chermside on Brisbane’s northside, across the road from Chermside Shopping Centre and 15 minutes from the Brisbane CBD.

For over 30 years, we’ve been helping patients from all over Brisbane enjoy the best dental health they can with quality dental treatments.

Meet us and find out more about what we do at our practice by watching our videos.

We want your dental experience to be positive

At our Chermside general dental practice, we often see patients who are scared of the dentist or who have avoided going for years because of dental anxiety – and we’ll never judge you on that. Our dentists want you to be as relaxed and comfortable as possible, so you can get the gentle dental care you need.

While there are many common dentist fears, some of our patients are anxious about having dental treatment because they don’t want to be awake during it.

Often, they’ll ask if we can ‘put them to sleep’ during a procedure, whether it’s a wisdom tooth extraction or something simpler like several fillings. At Today’s Dentistry, this is a choice you can make.

We offer a range of dental sedation options

Sedation and anaesthetic options at Today’s Dentistry

We offer a range of conscious sedation (you’re awake) and pain relief at our Chermside general dental practice:

Oral sedation (Valium)

We can prescribe this drug before an appointment to help you feel at ease

Inhalation sedation (nitrous oxide or ‘laughing gas’)

This can really relax you in the chair.

Local anaesthetic

To numb your mouth during a procedure.

Anti-inflammatory medication (Ibuprofen)

To reduce discomfort and swelling after treatment.

We now also have our own dental theatre at a specialised dental sedation clinic in the Brisbane CBD. Here we can perform a range of dental treatments under sedation or general anaesthetic, including:

Inhalation sedation

Nitrous oxide or ‘laughing gas.

Intravenous (IV) sedation

You’re still conscious and quite reactive, but it has an amnesiac effect.

General anaesthetic

You’re ‘put under’, that is, completely unconscious and unaware.

Whether you require minimal, moderate or deep sedation, our dentists can discuss with you what drugs they commonly use during dental procedures and work out what’s best for you and your individual situation.

We’re friendly and will put you at ease
